Team chat
Channels, direct messages and mentions, plus card references inside a message — the thing that separates this from any other chat.
Tasuki's chat lives inside the workspace, next to the boards. It is for what you settle by talking, and what sets it apart from any other chat is that a message can carry a project card inside it.
Channels and direct messages
- Channels, one per project or topic. The demo workspace has two:
#clientesand#testeo-software. A channel with unread messages shows the count next to its name. - Threads, to reply to one message without splitting the channel conversation in two.
- Direct messages with anyone in the workspace. Next to each avatar there is a status dot telling you whether they are online.
- At the top of the sidebar, three shortcuts: Replies, Mentions and Saved, plus chat search.
The composer has bold, italic, strikethrough, code, attachments and emoji. Enter sends.
Mentioning someone
Type @ and pick the person. The mention shows up in the message and also in their Mentions list, which is where people look after walking out of a meeting with fifty unread messages.
A message in a channel of seven people belongs to nobody in particular. If you need somebody to act, mention them.
Referencing a card
This is what a normal chat cannot do. With the card button in the formatting bar, or by typing /tarjeta, you drop a card into the message. Instead of a bare link, the message renders a small panel with:
- the project the card belongs to,
- its title,
- the list it sits in right now,
- the due date, in red once it has passed,
- and who owns it.
So "The cards are ready in:" followed by the panel for "Creación Web - Captura Studio" says, without another word, that the card is in the Clientes project, in the In progress list, and overdue.
Talk in cards, not in topics
"That Captura Studio thing" makes the reader work out what you mean and guess where it stands. The card panel shows it, and it also makes clear the card exists at all: if it does not, that work is not tracked anywhere.
What does not belong in chat
- A decision you will need to remember in a month: that goes in a card comment or a note.
- A notice the whole team must read, where you want to know who has read it: that is an announcement.
It depends on your plan
Chat with channels, direct messages and threads, along with online presence, is included from the Team plan upwards. Check the pricing table to see what your plan covers.
What next
For what you write once and read many times, continue with Notes and internal documentation. For what goes from one person to the whole team, see Announcements.
