The Kanban view
What a board tells you without opening anything, how work moves between lists, and what the card detail holds.
The Kanban is the status view: every list is a column, and every card sits in the column that says where it stands. It is the view for daily work and, together with List, the only one that opens a card's full detail.
What you can read without opening anything
Each column shows its emoji, its name and how many cards it holds. Each card shows, at a glance:
- Its labels, at the top, in their colour.
- A thin stripe down the left, in the colour of the first label.
- The icons along the bottom: whether it has a description, the due date (red once overdue), time already logged, attachments and comments.
- The avatar of whoever owns it, on the right.
A card with no icons is not an empty card. It is a card nobody has dated, logged an hour against, or written a single line on.
Moving work
Drag a card to another column to change its status, or within the same column to reorder priorities. With the keyboard: Tab to focus the card, Space to pick it up, arrow keys to move it, Space again to drop it, Escape to cancel. Enter on a focused card opens its detail.
So you do not have to read the whole board, filter by owner, label, date or status, or search by text from the header bar.
The card detail
One click opens everything the card hides: the description, the Time block (total logged, your own share, the estimate and the percentage burned, with the button to start a timer and the table of entries with start and end times), attachments with their type and size, and the activity feed with dated comments.
The right-hand column holds members, labels, start and due dates — flagged as overdue when they are — the buttons to add a checklist or an attachment, and the move, copy, archive and delete actions.
Assigning members depends on your plan
Assigning members to a card and online presence are not part of the Solo plan, which is built for working alone. Check the pricing table to see which plan includes them.
When the Kanban is the wrong view
- To compare many cards on the same field, switch to List.
- If the question is how long things take and what overlaps, switch to Gantt.
- If the question is what lands on which day, switch to Calendar.
- If the question is how the project is doing, switch to the Dashboard.
Switching views moves nothing: it is the same work, looked at differently. Continue with The list view.
