The Gantt view
The project along a timeline: one bar per task, status colours, a today line, and the catch that only dated cards show up.
The Gantt lays the project along a timeline: one bar per task, as long as the days it takes. It is the view for deadlines, overlaps and whatever has fallen behind.
How to read it
On the left, the task list grouped by list, with collapsible groups so you can put aside whatever you are not looking at. On the right, the bars over the grid of days.
- The bar colour is the status: completed, in progress, scheduled or overdue. The legend sits in the footer.
- The coloured dot next to a task name is its label, which in practice means the client.
- The vertical line marks today. Any bar crossing it without being finished is a delay, not a forecast.
- Hovering a bar shows its title, its status and how many days it spans.
Up top you get day, week and month zoom, a button to jump back to today, and month navigation. Month zoom is for walking a client through the quarter; day zoom is for wrestling with one specific week.
Adjusting dates
Drag a bar to move the whole task to different dates. Drag its right edge to change how long it lasts. It is the fast way to reshuffle a whole week without opening a single card.
What you will not see here
Only cards that have dates show up. The header says so plainly: it counts how many dated tasks there are out of the project total.
An empty Gantt does not mean light work
If the chart looks deserted, check that counter before drawing conclusions. Odds are the work is there and what is missing are the dates.
The Gantt does not open a card's detail either: to touch a description, an attachment or a comment, go back to Kanban or List. The footer does let you export to CSV.
Gantt or Calendar
Pick Gantt when duration is the point: a shoot that runs three days, a production that eats two weeks, two projects that collide. Pick Calendar when the day is the point: what ships on Thursday and how much of it lands on each person.
